Dear Cytotechnologist:

There are changes happening now in cytology or on the horizon that may affect how cytotechnologists practice (HPV vaccines, Image-assisted screening, etc.). National organizations, training programs, employers, and individuals are trying to determine the best responses for cytology and its practitioners. The voice of the individual cytotechnologist may not have been heard clearly. My project for an Applied Research class at Drake University is to survey practicing cytotechnologists about their thoughts and actions in response to some of the pressures the profession is facing.

Below is a link to a survey that should take only 15-20 minutes of your time. You will also be invited to volunteer to participate in short telephone interview.  I hope you will participate to enable me to sample the types of actions and beliefs cytotechnologists have in response to the changes they have heard about or are seeing in their own laboratories. I intend to share any conclusions I am able to draw with interested stakeholders as they attempt to address the future direction of the profession.

One favor I would ask of you. You have received this email because you are a member of a cytology professional organization. This may indicate that you are more active in the profession or may have more knowledge about new technologies or trends in cytology than the average cytotechnologist. I would like to hear from your cytotechnologist colleagues who are NOT members of professional organizations to be sure to capture that demographic as well. Could you please forward this email to your friends and co-workers who are not ‘society members’?  I would like to hear the voices all cytotechnologists. Thank you!

Please use this link to access the survey. The survey will be closed after April 15, 2008.
